We’re happy to announce that we’ll be releasing our Adaptation LP on Pesanta Urfolk in 2014!

Pesanta Urfolk as a label has always defined genre classification, I have never made claim to be a “metal label” or a “neofolk label”—I am simply doing the best I can to curate what I consider to be some of the most exciting music in the underground. This coming year, 2014, is looking like a very promising year for releases.
One of the groups I am most excited about may be a surprise for the Pesanta Urfolk followers as it’ll leave those wishing to pigeonhole my works scratching their head—The Seattle, WA based group Kithkin will be releasing their first full length entitled Rituals, Trances & Ecstasies For Humans in Face of The Collapse on Pesanta Urfolk on multiple formats.
Unpon first listen their demo entranced me, the heavily percussive elements akin to Munly & The Lupercalians with the popular sensibility of Echo and the Bunnymen create a very potent mix that has gained the group a significant amount of attention amount their local community. Seattle Magazine deemed Kithin to be the best band of 2013 citywide, they have performed at the esteemed Iceland Airwaves Music Festival and have been totally romancing their audiences with their frenzied and fervent tree-worshiping live shows stateside for a number of year! Leave your preconceptions at the door, and prepare for this outstanding release currently slated for the Vernal Equinox, 2014.
Another release Pesanta Urfolk is hugely excited about is an as of yet unnamed live Fire+Ice LP complied from three intimate Sintra, Portugal performances from 2001. The outstanding live audio has been edited and mastered by Robert Ferbrache/Absinthe Studio. Anyone with even the most cursory knowledge of the neofolk scene will know that Fire+Ice is essential. It is a complete honor to announce this work.
Another live LP/CS that Pesanta Urfolk will be co-releasing with Cloister Recordings is the collaborative set between Trepaneringsritualen and Sutekh Hexen from Stella Natura, 2013.
Munly—The Jimmy Carter Syndrome, Common Eider, King Eider—Taaleg Uksur, Noctooa—Adaptation, Mania—Revel (co-released with GreySun) and as of yet unnamed albums by Maledicere and Arnica will all see a stunning LP presentation throughout 2014.
Saadi Saati will see collaborative works with Unseen Forces on a Hoverkraft LP and will also be releasing the Stone Wings—Bird of Stone Wings on CD.
I am also so very excited to announce that 2014 will see the launch of a classical music label called Et in Arcadia ego (Arcadia Phono). The details are nearly 100% confirmed, but it looks like the first Arcadia Phono double LP will be Arvo Pärt—Passio.
Et in Arcadia ego
I assure you 2014 will see more exciting releases than the limited selection mentioned above!
One final note, our friend DJ Merrick at Aural Apocalypse has put together a nice selection of some of Pesanta Urfolk’s 2013 releases. Please give it a listen! Thanks Merrick!
